HMK eNews > Post Opening Knight Edition

Post date: Sep 20, 2010 3:22:26 PM

While modesty is certainly a virtue, a believe that it is important for us to realize that we put on an INCREDIBLE event this past Saturday! While it is hard to follow the email that Cynthia sent yesterday, we should be immensely proud of what this organization achieved this past weekend. Not only was this an experience for our students to remember, but the other 27 groups (wow...that's a lot) who took the field got to perform in front of a full house that they will likely not experience again until Champs (if then!). 2400 young people had their lives affected in a positive way by Opening Knight 2010...that's something to be proud of!

As for the "home team" - our Opening Knight performance was received extremely well by the audience and judging community, alike. Walking into the first judges meeting of the season is always a stressful experience, particularly for the design staff. While we know that the critique will always include "finish the show" and "it's early season...everyone is dirty!" we hope that the product that we're giving the kids to perform is setting them up for success. Based on the crowd reaction and the reaction by the judging community, we are confident that the vehicle that our students are in control of is going to be immensely successful in the competitive arena.
